HISTORY OF WILDANE KENNELS
25 YEARS EXPERIENCE PET TRAVEL • BOARDING & PICK UP SERVICE
Esther purchased Wildane Kennels from the Wilson's in 1975. The Wilson's had bred Great Danes and also boarded cats and dogs. Esther has operated the kennels since then. She has continually remodeled and improved the facilities into today's luxury pet resort.
WILDANE KENNELS has always been a family business. Created by Esther's experience and considerably knowledge about handling dogs and cats.
Esther was a licensed microbiologist on the mainland before she moved to Puerto Rico with her 150 pound Irish Wolfhound, 'Charlie Morgantribble', her two cats: 25 pound 'Mixat' and little 10 pound 'Poco Suavecita'. Esther worked in a veterinary hospital in San Juan as the head veterinarian technician and hospital manager, until she acquired the kennel and started her breeding campaign with Rhodesian Ridgebacks. Her Asabi Ridgeback's won her the 'Breeder of the Year' award given by the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of America in 1984. She enjoyed showing and breeding her Ridgebacks, but the problem of overpopulation in the canine world made her rethink her breeding plans. Esther opted to quit breeding and jumped on the rescue bandwagon.
Esther arrived in Puerto Rico with her Irish Wolfhound, 'Charlie Morgantribble'.
Esther was the Caribbean Coordinator for the RRCUS Rescue. Wildane Kennels has worked with many of the local rescue groups, and often assists with the more difficult cases. Wildane offers help in the boarding, recuperation, readjustments and relocation of these rescues.
Esther and her husband, Jimmy, have always based Wildane Kennels on the love and care for our 'best friends'. They operate the kennels in a lovely setting, just below El Yunque rainforest. They pride themselves in a unique type of caring for animals that offers a home away from home and vacation for your pets, while you vacation or travel with no worries about your beloved pets.
